My name is Mimose Pierre. I have 6 children. I used to go to the Dominican Republic to find work so that I could take care of my children. Mission Waco Mission World, especially Janet Dorrell, has helped me a lot with the children by giving me a chance with a business loan. I bought five pigs and then had thirty pigs but they got a sickness and died. I also have a store, and a restaurant.
Janet used to give me a weekly job in the guest house when the group comes so that i could help take care of my family. Now by God's grace and MWMW I am working in the Incubator Business Program. MWMW not only helps me but also helps the community. I thank the Lord for MWMW. I could not read or write and I was afraid to tell Janet, but I asked her for a job. She told me that she saw a fire in me for leadership, so she gave me the job. I can cook, I can speak boldly, and I can organize people into groups because I am respected in the community – this is my community. I train and lead the women for buying bulk food and packaging this food for 300 parents of the sponsored children of the MWMW "Empowerment Out of Poverty Program" – through educating our community children. I believe in this. I am learning to read and write now. Lilia our trainer is teaching me.
I became Christian in 1973. I grew up in a Christian family. I can remember I accepted Jesus as personal savior in 1973. A few years later, I had to give up church to go work in the Dominican Republic. I was not baptized at that period of time. When I returned to church in 2000 I got baptized. Now, I am serving the Lord as my personal savior. God has really changed my life, I feel blessed and satisfied. Thank you and may God continue to bless MWMW!
