My Mission Waco story didn’t just begin when I joined the children's center. It began when I became part of a family. Mission Waco has done a lot for me the past nine years that I have been at program. In school I excelled, but I really did not like to turn in work on time. I had a really important project due and people at Mission Waco helped me until ten at night. The next day I turned in the projectand I got an 80 (which would have been a 100, but the project was late).
No matter my situation, or what I needed to talk about there has always been someone at Mission Waco I could count on. Mission Waco has kept me out of trouble. Instead of hanging around bad crowds I hang with my friends from Mission Waco, who are very encouraging and help me stay on the right path. There has always been someone that has helped me every step of the way. Mission Waco is one of the reasons I am where I am today.
I have also had help outside of program. An example is Suzi, who told me that the things I do at program and at school could look really good on my college application. When I turn sixteen I can enter the Mission Waco job training program, which could help me get a good job and learn life lessons. One example is not hurting people’s feelings because you don’t know what they’re going through in life. It has also helped me expresses my artistic side through theater. I have done many plays at the Jubilee Theatre which has helped me branch out and meet new people.
That’s how Mission Waco has influenced my life. I love Mission Waco and the way it has helped me become a better student and a better person. Mission Waco means the world to me and I hope we are around for another twenty-five years maybe even longer.
